Sachin Tendulkar made it even more memorable for the Olympic medallists when he handed over BMW cars to the outstanding performers. Rio Olympics silver medallist shuttler P V Sindhu and bronze winner grappler Sakshi Malik along with gymnast Dipa Karmakar and badminton coach Pullela Gopichand were felicitated in Hyderabad on Sunday morning by the cricket legend himself.
Hyderabad District Badminton Association president Chamundeshwarnath sponsored the luxury cars to the four sportspersons for their outstanding achievement in the recently-concluded Rio 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro.
Tendulkar, who was the Goodwill Ambassador of the Indian contingent at Rio Olympics, handed over the keys at a function at Gopichand Badminton Academy.
While Sindhu became the first ever badminton player to play the finals at an Olympic event, Sakshi Malik became the first ever Indian woman wrestler to win a medal at the Olympics. Sindhu lost to Carolina Marin of Spain in a hard fought battle and eventually had to settle for silver. Malik clinched bronze in the wrestling event only to etch her name as the fourth Indian woman to win a medal at the Olympics.
Sachin Tendulkar also posted a photo of himself with the Olympic champions. Tendulkar took to the micro-blogging site, twitter, to write, “In the company of champs who proved their mettle P V Sindhu Sakshi Malik Dipa Karmakar & super coach #PullelaGopichand.”

Dipa who missed a medal by a whisker, had finished fourth in the vault event and stunned the world by attempting the risky Produnova vault.
