Hearing on Narsingh Yadav is over and the decision is set to be announced on Saturday or Monday. Earlier in the first hearing held on Wednesday the wrestler presented his case and later the hearing was adjourned till Thursday.

Narsingh failed a dope test conducted by National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) barely 10 days before the start of the Rio Olympics. The Rio-bound athlete tested positive for both “A” and “B” samples.

Narsingh was selected for the Rio Olympics in controversial circumstances as double Olympic medallist Sushil Singh had also staked his claim to represent the country in 74kg freestyle.

Narsingh, who was picked ahead of the double Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar to represent India at the Rio Games in 74kg Freestyle category, was later handed provisional suspension and virtually ruled out of next month’s Olympics.

But Narsingh was favoured as he had earned the Olympic quota in the World Championships last year. Narsingh had to fight a lengthy legal battle with two-time Olympics medallist Sushil, also in the same category, to get the chance to compete for India at the Olympics.

Narsingh was also stopped from travelling with other men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestlers to Georgia on July 25th for a fortnight training competition programme. The wrestlers were scheduled to leave for Rio directly from Georgia.
