In a combative opening to the US presidential debate, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton clashed over a host of issues ranging from economy, tax cuts for the wealthy, the Islamic State, Russia among others. Without sparing a moment, Trump led the charge against Clinton and slammed her for staying off the campaign trail recently as he travelled the country, to which Clinton came up with a riposte: “I think Donald just criticized me for preparing for this debate. And yes, I did. And you know what else I prepared for? I prepared to be President. And that is a good thing,” she said.

It was a war of words as both accused each other of alleged misdemeanours and punched holes into their policies in the event of either becoming President of the United States of America.
