Utterly adorable giant panda videos may have melted our hearts a zillion times, most thinking that the wild animal is overtly friendly and not dangerous, however, that’s not always true. These cuties too get irritated when disturbed and can attack and bite any intruder. As this man found out, the saying ‘wake not a sleeping lion’ is true for any animal.
A CCTV footage captured in a zoo in China reiterates the fact. The video shows a man who jumped into an enclosure of giant panda in Nanchang Zoo, Jiangxi Province. The footage shows the “casual visitor” teasing a panda who was asleep. The animal certainly was immensely upset and the causal encounter turned into a “wrestling” match. And no guesses about who won.
Security camera shows the man struggle with the 12-year-old male panda, Meiling, for five minutes before the intruder finally managed to get out of the cage. The angry panda thwacked the man with his leg and sent him to the ground. The video posted by Chinese news agency CCTV News also claimed “the giant panda began to bite the man”.
The agency, on their Youtube channel, said, “Local authority has reminded visitors that although giant pandas look cute, they can be very aggressive. In the process of pandas’ daily feeding, keepers and the giant pandas are completely isolated so they don’t attack.”
The video has gone viral on social media platforms and many Netizens said the man should be punished. The video of the wrestling on Facebook had over 1 million views at the time of writing, and has been shared widely.
