In what can be called one of the most daredevil proposals of 2016, Bangkok-based photographer Keow Wee Loong scaled the tallest bridge in the world so he could surprise his girlfriend with a picture from the top with ‘Will you marry me?’ placard in his hand. Loong was on his month-long trip to China when he climbed Beipanjiang Bridge Duge near Liupanshui with his friend and got the picture clicked using a drone.

He later took his girlfriend Marta Sibielak on a trip to Bali where he posted the picture on social media for her to scroll and see. She saw and said YES! He also showed her a video of his trek to the bridge which reportedly made her cry. The trek was nearly three-hour long because the bridge which was on a mountain range.

“I asked her to wait for me at a restaurant. I know she has a habit of going on Facebook while she waits for people, so I uploaded the photo. She said yes! When I arrived, everyone was grouped around her table and I realised that she was crying. She hugged me when she saw me and I told everyone that it was alright,” Keow told Lonely Planet Travel News.

The photographer obviously wanted to do this in a unique way because his fiance didn’t like ‘cheesy’ and cliched proposals. “Marta always said that she thought a Disneyland proposal was cheesy, so I wanted to do the proposal my way,” Loong told Barcroft media.

However, it’s a dangerous act and Loong warned people against it. . “It was a unique proposal…but people should understand the risks that they are taking and should know their capability before doing anything crazy,” he told Lonely Planet Travel News.
