It is common knowledge that there will be a Kerala connection to almost anything that happens in the Gulf states, so did the tiger that terrorised a Doha expressway last week.
In fact, the tiger that ran through the traffic on the busy Al Rayyan expressway was in fact a runaway artiste from a Malayalam movie.
The big cat was on his way to be part of V K Prakash’s ‘Marubhumiyile Aana’ (Elephant of the Desert) being shot in Qatar. The movie stars Biju Menon, who was scripted to make a grand entrance holding the chained tiger.
The tiger was being taken in a caged truck to the location when the cat decided it was time for some off-the-camera action. The domesticated tiger was soon put back in the vehicle and taken to the location of the shoot.
But with the videos of the tiger going viral, the Qatar Police identified the vehicle in which the tiger was being transported. The team which was responsibile for trasporting the animal was let go only after they paid a hefty fine, says a report in Malayala Manorama.
