Ola has announced a special fare on Ola Share in Delhi NCR. The new fare will allow users to hail an Ola Share at Rs 50 from more than 150 Metro stations in Delhi NCR. The offer will be valid from Monday to Friday, between 8 AM and 10 PM. However, the fare will only be valid up to 7 km, after which normal Share rates will apply. Ola Share ride can be shared by up to four people at any point in time.

“Considering the current state of air pollution and traffic congestion in Delhi, using a shared cab could put more people in fewer cars, reducing the burden on the environment and on our roads. This is why we have targeted the Delhi Metro where every day we have thousands of people travelling to similar locations in separate autos and other modes of transport. Introducing flat rates will effectively encourage them to share rides at affordable, convenient prices and help us create a greener future,” Deep Singh, Business Head – North, Ola said.

Rival Uber has made changes to its car-pool service uberPOOL as well. In a bid to make UberPOOL more seameless for riders, it introduced new features such as push notifications and real-time updates. The company also rolled out its #SwitchtoPOOL campaign to reduce pollution levels and traffic congestion in Indian cities.

Ola introduced Ola Share in Delhi NCR in December last year to support Delhi government’s odd-even scheme. UberPOOL was rolled out a day before Ola Share in Delhi. Both the services allow strangers travelling to the same destination to share cab. According to Uber, it saved over 32 million kilometres traveled, over 1.5 million litres of fuel and cut over 3.5 million kgs CO2 emissions since the service was announced in India.
