Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg met with Pope Francis at the Vatican on Monday. Zuckerberg was accompanied by wife Priscilla Chan. Associated Press cited Vatican spokesman Greg Burke and said, one topic of discussion at the meeting was “how to use communication technologies to alleviate poverty, encourage a culture of encounter, and make a message of hope arrive, especially to those most in need.” The meeting was held at the Santa Marta residence, where the Pope lives. The report adds Zuckerberg wore a dark suit and tie, while Chan wore a black, knee-length dress.

Mark Zuckerberg gave Pope a miniature model of Aquila as a souvenir. Aquila is company’s solar-powered plane project–which aims to beam down Internet via lasers from the skies. Aquila, in July, successfully completed its first test flight in Yuma, Arizona. Zuckerberg later shared the same in a Facebook post. “We gave him a model of Aquila, our solar-powered aircraft that will beam internet connectivity to places that don’t have it,” he wrote.

“Priscilla and I had the honor of meeting Pope Francis at the Vatican. We told him how much we admire his message of mercy and tenderness, and how he’s found new ways to communicate with people of every faith around the world,” Zuckerberg wrote in the Facebook post. He added this was a meeting they will never forget.

Facebook CEO is not the first Silicon Valley tech entrepreneur to meet the Pope. The list includes Apple CEO Tim Cook, Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom and Alphabet chairman Eric Schmidt.
