ZTE has announced the mini version of its flagship Axon7 smartphone at IFA Berlin. The smartphone is the latest in company’s flagship Axon series.
ZTE Axon7 mini continues with the design and features first seen on Axon7. ZTE Axon7 mini is not exactly a shrunken down Axon7 but rather offers premium features in a smaller form factor. ZTE Axon7 mini downgrades the specifications from Axon7 but retains that same metal design and superior audio quality. ZTE Axon7 mini features that same curved design seen on the Axon7 paired with a 2.5D curved-edge glass. It is an all-metal unibody construction.
ZTE Axon7 mini with its 5.2-inch Full HD display may not be a small smartphone but its a proof that 5-inch is the new small-size among smartphones now. ZTE is using an AMOLED panel here instead of LCD, promising better colour saturation and brightness. ZTE Axon7 mini is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The smartphone is just 7.8mm thick and weighs 153 grams.
On the camera front. ZTE Axon7 mini sports a 16-megapixel main camera with phase detection autofocus. The front camera is an 8-megapixel one which should be ideal for those late night selfies. The smartphone is backed by a 2,705mAh battery.
ZTE Axon7 mini’s USP here is the dual front-facing stereo speakers, which only a handful of smartphones support currently. The company, at its IFA 2016 presentation, took a dig at iPhone, Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and HTC 10, for using a smaller speaker setup. ZTE Axon7 mini comes with a dedicated audio processor from Asahi Kasei Microdevices for its Hi-Fi sound experience.
ZTE Axon7 mini will be available in US, India, Russia, Germany, Spain, Poland, Japan, Australia, and Saudi Arabia. The company says the device will go on sale in markets outside the US from September 7 at €299 (approximately Rs 22,500).
