Samsung has launched a new Galaxy Tab A tablet in South Korea with support for the S-Pen in Korea. The new Galaxy Tab A (2016) has a bigger 10.1-inch display and is priced at 489,000 Won for the LTE version. There’s also a WiFi only version of the Galaxy Tab A listed on Samsung’s Korea website. The specifications are exactly the same as the one launched in May, except with the S-Pen support now included.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A has a 10.1-inch TFT display with WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels) and has an octa-core processor clocked at 1.6Ghz. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A comes with 3GB RAM and total 32GB storage space of which around 24GB is available for users.The rear camera is 8.0 MP and is capable of recording full HD videos at 1080p resolution at 30 fps, while the front camera is a 2MP one.
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A 2016 supports expandable storage as well with 256GB support via microSD. The tablet supports Bluetooth v4.2, USB 2.0 and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac 2.4G+5GHz along with NFC. The battery is 7300 mAh on the LTE + WiFi version.
With the S-Pen support, the new Galaxy Tab A has features like the ability to translate text instantly, turn images into words, as well as let a user take handwritten notes on the tablet. The SPen is usually the highlight of the Galaxy Note series, although this year the Galaxy Note 7 has been recalled thanks to exploding battery issue. Samsung has issued a formal apology advertisement in Korea over the exploding battery issue.
Samsung has not confirmed when the Galaxy Tab A 2016 will launch in India or other countries. Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S was launched at a more premium pricing of Rs 43,090.
