Google’s new Pixel phone has been well received by the tech industry, but it is having some teething issues when it comes to Band 4 LTE (1700 MHz). Users of the Pixel and Pixel XL in South America are posting on Google’s product forum complaining that even on an LTE network they only receive an HSPA+ connection.

According to an Android Police report, this LTE band is most commonly used in the Americas. Band 4 is also the same LTE band which is being reported as not working on Google’s forums. Most of the people complaining on the forums are from South America – Dominican Republic, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay among others.

Google is however aware of the issue and is already working on it, and that an update will be coming soon to remedy the problem. One of the users claims to have received a new unit from Google to solve the problem.

Google’s Pixel smartphones actually have a better adoption rate than the previous generation Huawei Nexus 6P, according to data shared by Appboy. The company has said that the larger Pixel XL has seen better adoption rates in the first week of sale, and according to a 9to5Google report – Pixel already had a 0.016 per cent of market share, while the Pixel XL had 0.02 per cent within a week of launch.
