Apple iOS 12.1 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch was released earlier this week. Now, security researchers have discovered a lockscreen bypass that lets anyone access all contact information, activate FaceTime call on an iPhone running iOS 12.1. A video was posted on YouTube, showcasing how people can bypass the lockscreen to launch a FaceTime call as well as access contact information such as their numbers, designation, email ids and more. The bug also allows the researcher to access the group FaceTime feature that was rolled out recently.
Apple iOS 12.1 lockscreen bypass essentially let the reasearcher access an iPhone, which was locked with passcode and ask Siri to make a phone call. By changing the call to FaceTime call, one can apprently access all contacts. The reasearcher was also able to look at information of individual contacts using 3D Touch and even start a new phone call.
