Xiaomi Mi VR headset and Mi Live app launched in India

Xiaomi Mi VR headset is now available in India at Rs 999. The company also launched the Mi Live app.

Xiaomi Mi VR headset, which was launched in China in August, is now available in India as well. Xiaomi’s Mi VR headset, which comes with two-way zipper design and is made of Lightweight Lycra will be sold via the company’s India store. Xiaomi also announced its new Mi Live app for India users. The website has the Mi VR headset listed for Rs 999. However, the VR headset is already out of stock on the company’s website.

Xiaomi Mi VR headset is compatible with smartphones from 4.7-inch to 5.7-inch screen size. Xiaomi claims the Lycra fabric is skin-friendly and does not cause discomfort; dimensions of the headset are 201 x 107 x 91mm, and it weighs around 208 g without the straps.

The Mi VR headset is a very basic VR headset experience, and there’s also a Mi VR companion app which has 3D movies, 2D or gaming applications that can be watched on the same. Xiaomi says the Mi VR Play app is Google Cardboard compatible and gives users access to the library of videos and apps on Google Play as well. The Google Cardboard app is also compatible with this VR headset.

Mi VR Play app is not officially listed on the Google Play Store, and the website has a QR code which can be scanned in order to download the app.

Xiaomi is known for launching more than just smartphones in China; from the Mi NoteBook Air to bicycles to Air Purifiers. The company is slowly expanding its range of products in India as well and the Mi AirPurifier 2, Mi Band 2 are available in the market along with Mi-branded other accessories.
