In terms of features, TomTom Touch is being called a fitness tracker, one that doesn’t just count activity and steps for users like other devices in the market. TomTom Touch relies on calculating the the Body composition analysis (BCA), which looks at the ration of muscle to fat in the body. TomTom says this is a more reliable and accurate way to know fitness than just relying on steps or BMI. The TomTom Touch however, also counts steps, sleep and all day heart-rate tracking.
In order to calculate the BCA, TomTom Touch sends a ‘harmless’ electrical current into the body, and a user needs to stand perfectly still in order for the BCA to be computed. According to TomTom, they don’t recommend pregnant women or people with pace-makers to use this to calculate the BCA.
