MediaTek has partnered with Intex to provide its System-on-Chip (SOC) for smart wearables. Intex announced iRist Junior and iRist Pro with MediaTek chipsets.
Intex iRist Junior is powered by MT6261, supports GPS for child tracking, features a 0.96 inch TFT screen and weighs 48.5 grams. The iRist Pro comes with MT2502, is water resistant and supports Bluetooth 4.0. The device is compatible with Android 4.4 and above.
MediaTek MT2502 (Aster) is the world’s smallest commercial System-on-Chip (SOC) for wearables. MT2601 SoC is based on Google’s Android Wear software. The chipset is powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A7, ARM Mali-400 MP GPU and supports qHD display resolution.
