So what is the USP of this new flagship? Koh says different photographers will benefit from different features. “But for people who require speed and find 14 frames per second a convenience, this will a really huge difference even though it is a jump of just 2 frames per second. Wedding photographers for instance will love the 4K video as it is 60 frames per second with the option to do 120 frames per second for slow motion.”

Koh says that while 4K is slowly becoming more popular it is important to understand the quality of the 4K. “4K at how many frames per second is more important. As we evolve we see that 4K video has reached a new level. I think 4K video is a welcome addition,” he said, adding that photographers can do much more now with these cameras.

The EOS-1D X Mark II has a 20.2MP full frame CMOS sensor with dual pixel CMOS AF, Dual Digic 6+ image processor, ISO up to 51,200 expandable up to 409,600 and comes with GPS and an optional Wi-Fi. It will be priced at Rs 4,55,995 just for the body.

Koh said a lot of people who have booked the camera already have done it without even seeing or touching the camera. “That is the kind of confidence people have in Canon cameras.”

He added: “Photographers are now aware of how a good camera can make a difference. We see the consumer market is also growing with more first time buyers for entry-level DSLRs.” Koh said there was also a trend of people upgrading from entry level to the mid-range.
