Ferrari controversy
Sachin Tendulkar has been famous for equaling and breaking a number of records on the cricketing field. After equaling Sir Don Bradman’s record of 29 Test centuries, Fiat India gifted Tendulkar a Ferrari. Heavy custom duties had to be imposed on this but the then Finance Minister Jaswant Singh waived off the taxes. This was against the rules and regulations and as a result the star Indian batsman had to face a lot of troubles. A Public Interest Litigation was filed in Delhi High Court on this matter. Later Fiat India paid the duty.

Home controversy
Sachin Tendulkar didn’t have the permit for moving in to his new house in Bandra. BMC even imposed a fine of Rs 4.75 as the batsman was without the Occupancy Certificate.

Ball-Tampering controversy
Sachin Tendulkar wasn’t a cricketing personality who got indulged in on-field convtroversy. But during a Test match against South Africa in Port Elizabeth, former Inian skipper was booked for ball-tampering charges by match-referee Mike Denness. Tendulkar was banned for a Test match following the incident but charges from Denness backfired the match-refree. Both sides played the next Test without Denness’ supervision. Denness was termed as racist by media and the BCCI threatened to call off the tour.

Flag controversy
Prior to the start of the 2007 World Cup, the Indian team was in Jamaica and the Indian High Commission invited them for a function. During the function Sachin Tendulkar was asked to cut a cake bearing national flag. Such a depiction isn’t allowed by Indian law. Tendulkar had a case filed against him in a Court in Indore. The officials from Indian government were also present at the event and it was said that they should have known the law. Tendulkar found support from various Members of Parliament and the Indian cricket board.
