Stray dogs are a common sight in Indian streets but it is not so common on a cricket field. Hence, it was quite a source of amusement for all present when Stuart Broad’s over was interrupted by the dog nonchalantly striding onto a field that is accessible only to players and officials during an international match.

The incident happened when Broad was starting his run up for the third ball of what had to be the last ball before Tea. Both Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara were close to scoring centuries and it did seem like at least one would get into the three figure mark before the teams retired for the break. But it was not to be as the game was interrupted by non-playing presence.

All those on the field were smiling, Broad made an under arm swing at the dog, almost pleading the animal to let him finish the over. But the canine refused to be robbed of his day in front of the camera and kept strutting around the field. Volunteers came out and chased him around the with their shoes in their hands and the animal kept amusing the crowd.

By this time, the umpires had enough and called Tea, thereby leaving Stuart Broad to bowl the rest of his over in the next session. It may have been amusing for all except the stadium officials who is sure to take a look at the exit points of the stadium from Friday.
