Suresh Raina turns 30 on Sunday. The southpaw has been a constant for India in limited overs cricket with many of his contemporaries and critics sighting him as one of the best batsmen of his generation in the format. Raina was slated to play for India in their recent ODI series against New Zealand but dropped out in the last minute due to viral fever. Although he was supposed to play in the last three matches, he couldn’t recover and couldn’t join MS Dhoni and co.
While being one of the most destructive bastmen in international cricket, Raina is also known for his fielding abilities. His on field persona and his energy is something that makes him a valuable asset in the dressing room. He hasn’t made an appearance for India in 2016 thus far and is expected to make a comeback when India play England in a five match ODI series after the ongoing Test series.
Raina made his ODI debut for India in 2005 against Sri Lanka. He is the first Indian to score centuries in all three formats of the game. He was the mainstays of Chennai Superkings until the franchisee was banned from playing in the IPL.
Raina is a popular figure in the cricketing world due to his aforementioned on field persona. Hence, on the occassion of his birthday, wishes poured in for him from all quarters.
