“The court is of the opinion that the letter dated November 5, 2016, should be kept in abeyance. Status quo will prevail prior to the issuance of the letter. The selectors will continue to function till final disposal of the writ petition,” the bench said while nullifying DDCA’s order appointing Sarandeep Singh,Rakesh Shukla and former wicket Vinay Kumar in the panel by replacing the selectors put in place by Justice Mudgal. Mudgal’s counsel Nitin Mishra, moved court seeking directions to declare the DDCA’s decision “null and void”. Finding fault with the November 5 decision of DDCA’s working committee’s decision to remove Maninder Singh, Atul Wassan and Nikhil Chopra from their respective panels as selectors appointed by Justice Mudgal, the bench said,”DDCA should have informed the court about such a move when the order was reserved so that it could have taken preventive steps at that time only.”

Meanwhile, DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan welcomed HC’s observations and said it’s now up to the “signatories” to furnish the needed payments in the next 48 hours. “The signatories need to stop changing and need to come to the association and be available for the necessary clearances. There are lot of pending payments to travel partners, clothing suppliers, caterers and other people providing services during matches at the Feroz Shah Kotla and St. Stephen’s ground,” he said.
