Kerala: Former MP Sivaraman quits Congress, to return to CPM

The Dalit leader had represented the now defunct Ottapalam Lok Sabha constituency from 1993 to 1996.

Former Member of Parliament S Sivaraman on Monday said he was quitting Congress to return to CPI (M). Sivaraman had resigned from CPI (M) in 2010 and joined Congress, saying that he had developed an aversion towards the policies of the CPI (M).

Sivaraman told the media in Palakkad that he was quitting Congress in protest against its soft approach towards corruption. He said his political culture does not allow him to continue in Congress, which has made corruption as its hallmark.

He said he would also quit as the chairman of Scheduled Caste Development Corporation.
