Responding to frequent “jungle raj” jibes from the BJP, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Friday that it has been six months since he joined hands with RJD chief Lalu Prasad, but no one could cite an instance of any serious law and order threat in the state.
Speaking at a television show, Nitish said: “I have been with Laluji for six months now. Can anyone cite an example of jungleraj? BJP has been just trying to raise fear by invoking jungleraj”. He added that his alliance with RJD was “issue-based” and he would pursue development agenda from Day One if he returned to power.

Speaking in a separate session at the same programme, Lalu Prasad said the Opposition would have decimated Nitish if JD (U) and RJD would not have joined hands.

“Had I not supported Nitish, the Opponents would have prevailed over him,” he said.
The RJD chief further created flutter by calling himself a “born Naxal but non-violent”. Replying to a question as to whether the “Grand Alliance” government, if it comes to power, would implement recommendations of D Bandopadhyay Commission on land reforms, Lalu Prasad said: “Main to born Naxali hoon lekin non-violent hoon (I am a Naxal by birth but am non-violent”.
Speaking at the same programme, BJP’s legislature party leader Sushil Kumar Modi claimed Nitish had been trying to split with BJP since the 2010 Bihar polls. “After a thumping NDA win, he had chosen to hold a unilateral press conference and given us a hint. Splitting over Narendra Modi was just an excuse to cater to voters from a particular community”, said Modi.
On questions over NDA’s CM nominee, Modi said it would be decided after the election. “BJP is not a single man party like JD (U) and RJD. I am not the only capable man, there are a host of talented leaders in the party and the right call would be taken at the right time”.
