Maharashtra Women and Child Welfare Minister Pankaja Munde on Wednesday alleged that the “negative approach” of bureaucracy was a hurdle in implementing development agenda quickly. In an informal interaction with reporters on completion of two years of the BJP-led state government, Munde said, “Due to the negative approach of government officials, the targets of development cannot be achieved as expected and in given time frame.”
She said a proposal for direct election for the post of sarpanch is under consideration. “A final decision has not been taken. We are studying the direct election for sarpanch in southern states and how itcan be implemented in the state,” she said. Munde also noted that maintaining social harmony was a big challenge before the government.
