No compromise on trade commitments: India to tell EU

India made it clear that it will make no compromise on intellectual property rights.

India on Thursday made it clear that it will make no compromise on intellectual property rights in the ongoing India-EU FTA talks and emphasised that it will not accept any TRIPS-plus commitments as initially mooted by the EU.

Official sources explained that India will not undertake any obligation which will require a change in domestic legislation. It’s learnt that there has been some breakthrough on this with both sides agreeing to reiterate their domestic legislations on this.
