One of the highlights of the ongoing fair which started on Saturday with 230 participants from India and abroad is the massive discount available on used books. Priced anywhere between Rs 20 and Rs 100,one can get hold of classics such as short stories by Premchand for as low as Rs 50. Check out the stall called Students for old books.
Interested in Manga comics? Pick up a Manga title in English called Othello at the Nanda Books kiosk. The kiosk has a large collection of Manga comics along with books on other subjects such as fashion and photography all priced between Rs 50 and 100. And if you are a Salman Khan fan,dont forget to pick up a graphic novel by Yomics (comics coming from the house of Chopras) called Ek Tha Tiger Mahasagar Ki Suraksha (Saving the High Seas in English) from S Chand bookstore for Rs 99.
This time,the organisers India Trade Promotion Organisation and Federation of Indian Publishers are holding special screening of films based on the works of some eminent writers as part of the offerings at Delhi Book Fair,to celebrate 100 Years of Indian Cinema. Catch up with classic films such as Meghe Dhaka Tara (Bengali) today,Guide (Hindi) on Monday or Slumdog Millionaire (Hindi) on Friday.
Talks and Seminars
As e-books is the theme for the Delhi book fair this year,various lectures on topics such as digital book market in India,e-publishing and intellectual property rights are being organised. We recommend talk by the Authors Guild of India on Literature and Values and a seminar by National Book Trust on Telling Tales to Children.
The Delhi Book Fair and Stationery Fair is on at Pragati Maidan till September 9,11 am to 8 pm.
