IPL set to ‘redefine’ marketing of sporting events

IPL announced a list of strategic partnerships with leading South African business vendors for the smooth conduct of its SA chapter.

The Indian Premier League announced a list of strategic partnerships with leading South African business vendors for the smooth conduct of the second edition of Twenty20 event in South Africa on Tuesday.

“We are proud of our affiliations with some of South Africa’s leading businesses,each of whom I am certain will play an integral role in making the DLF IPL Season 2009 in South Africa a huge success,” Chairman and Commissioner of the Indian Premier League Lalit Modi said.

“All of our affiliates have hit the ground running with their teams to work seamlessly in creating and executing what will be a non-stop carnival in the Rainbow Nation across the next 36 days. We can guarantee that when we leave South Africa on May 25th – the DLF IPL would have redefined how to market sporting events globally,” he added.

SuperSport,Maverick,Nicholls,Steyn and Associates (NSA),Ireland Davenport,Mindshare,Magna Carta,BIG Concerts,Bukhara,HRG Rennis and Megaview are the South Africans companies,with which the Indian Premier League will work locally for organising the mega-event.

Modi said a lot is being planned to ensure the opening ceremony of the event a visual extravaganza. “The opening ceremony promises to be a visual extravaganza; replete with some world-class international acts,a flavour of the Rainbow Nation playing host and off course some entertainment for all our overseas fans,” he said in a statement.

“We are planning a lot of interesting things for the opening ceremony and for all the 59 matches. Our loyal fans would be best advised to try and see the games live,” Modi added.
