Marathwada: Water Conservation Minister Pankaja Munde visits parched Latur

Munde arrived at Sia village and went to the site of desilting work on Manjara river, which has completely gone dry.

Maharashtra’s Rural Development and Water Conservation Minister Pankaja Munde Sunday visited drought-hit Latur to review desilting work being carried out by the government.

Munde arrived at Sia village and went to the site of desilting work on Manjara river, which has completely gone dry. Praising the efforts of officials, Munde said she was “proud of the work being carried out.” However, when she asked the district collector about all the Poclain excavators provided by the state government, she was told that only one such machine had been made available.

“It (desilting project) is a very good initiative…and should be replicated in other parts of the state. It will help in easing the water scarcity,” Munde told The Indian Express.
