As expected,Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy,son of Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has been given a ticket to contest from the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency. Jagan Mohans uncle Y S Vivekananda Reddy who was the sitting MP made way for his nephew by deciding not to contest.
The 39-year-old industrialist with extensive interests in mining industry in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka is also the owner and editor Saakshi vernacular daily and 24-hour news channel,and will be taking the plunge into politics for the first time.
Jagan Mohan is a known face in Kadapa which is the home turf of the Y S R family. In a joint venture with the National Academy of Construction he established the Kadapa technical training institute (KTTI). He is promoting the Rs 500 crore Raghuram Cements in Kamalapuram assembly constituency and a cement sack unit at Pulivendula in Kadapa district and favourite constituency of the CM.
Jagan Mohan is pitted against Palem Shrikanth Reddy of TDP who is also contesting for the first time.
