Jharkhand experienced widespread rains from August 4,enabling 80 per cent of transplantation of paddy in several districts.
“During the past one week,the state registered 157.2 mm rainfall,which is 35 per cent above normal. As per the weekly Agriculture bulletin,the excess rainfall helped 80 per cent of transplantation of paddy,” said Director of Meteorological department,Ranchi,G K Mohanty on Friday.
He forecast more rains in the next 48 hours in the state following the cyclonic circulation since yesterday,he said. “The state received 176.9 mm from August 1 to 11. It was 676.2 mm from June 1 to August 11,which is four percent above normal,” Mohanty said.
The farmer of the state had been scared following a brief spell of rains in July. Jharkhand reeled under severe drought for the past two years.
