Recovery of toy gun on CM Sukhbir Badal’s route keeps police on toes

The SHO said that they called Iqbal Singh and he was released after questioning. The SHO added that it was a toy gun.

RECOVERY OF a toy gun from the route from where the Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal had to pass kept the local police on its toes. The gun was later found to be belonging to the owner of a gun house. According to police, a man saw that a pistol was dropped from an Innova car on the dividing road of Sector 69/70, following which he called the police control room. After receiving the call, three teams of the local police reached the spot and recovered the pistol.

Phase VIII Station House Officer Kuljeet Singh said that the weapon belonged to the owner of Sahibzada gun house Iqbal Singh and it was a toy gun. The SHO said that they called Iqbal Singh and he was released after questioning. The SHO added that it was a toy gun.

The recovery of the pistol kept the police on its toes as the Deputy Chief Minister had to pass through the same route to go to Sector 69 where he had to inaugurate Transport Bhawan, Transport Safety Bhawan and Excise and Taxation Bhawan.

The police also found that the gun was manufactured in Italy. The police questioned Iqbal Singh for around one hour at Phase VIII police station. He told the police that the gun was dropped from his car accidentally as he kept the gun in the front seat. When he opened the door in Sector 69, the gun might have dropped from the seat. Iqbal was let off by the police after checking all the documents and his past record.
