2,041 candidates in fray for 2nd phase of polls

A total of 2,041 candidates,including 121 women contestants,are in the fray for the 141 LS seats.

A total of 2,041 candidates,including 121 women contestants,are in the fray for the 141 Lok Sabha seats that will go to polls during the second phase on April 23.

Statistics released by the Election Commission showed that as many as 377 candidates are contesting for the 25 seats in Maharashtra followed by 324 contestants for the 17 seats in Uttar Pradesh.

A total of 271 candidates will be trying their luck for 17 seats in Karnataka,254 candidates for 20 seats in Andhra Pradesh,198 contestants in 13 seats in Madhya Pradesh and 189 persons for 13 seats in Bihar.

Bangalore Central Parliamentary seat in Karnataka and Pune constituency in Maharashtra will have a maximum 37 and 36 candidates respectively.

Baramati Parliamentary constituency,from where NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule is contesting,will have the maximum of seven women candidates.
