Mehbooba Mufti walks out of Cabinet meeting, faces opposition over cadre review of KPS officers

Mufti faced opposition from her own ministers over a proposal to restructure the Kashmir Police Service officers cadre.

In a major political development that blew the lid of the differences between ruling PDP and BJP coalition partners, Jammu-Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Friday walked out of her Cabinet meeting midway, following opposition from some of her cabinet colleagues regarding a proposal to restructure the Kashmir Police Service (KPS) officers cadre. Mufti reportedly became angry over the issue and immediately left the Secretariat, sources said. The meeting was shifted to the office of Deputy Chief Minister to asses the situation. Later on, a delegation of ministers, along with the Dy CM, met Mufti at her residence. The meeting is still ongoing.
