Militants waiting along LoC to infiltrate into J-K: Army

There are a large number of militants on the other side of the border who have been trained and are armed,he said.

Militants of several groups,including LeT,JeM and Hizbul Mujahideen,are waiting along the Line of Control in a bid to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir,a senior army official said today.

“Operatives of several militant groups like LeT,Hizbul Mujahideen,JeM and HuJI,are positioned along the LoC and making desperate attempts everyday to cross the border. There are eight to nine militants in each group who keep attempting to get a chance to sneak into our territory,” he said.

He said once they fail to succeed at one place due to high alertness of Indian troops,they immediately move to other locations to make a fresh attempt.

“Pakistan security forces are clearly involved in supporting terrorist activities to create insecurity in Jammu and Kashmir,especially in Jammu region,” he said.

There has been increasing ceasefire violations,firing and shelling incidents on the Indian posts in order to facilitate militants to infiltrate into Indian side.

Referring to the recent ceasefire violations by shelling rockets,mortar bombs and heavy weaponry firing on Indian posts along the LoC in Poonch,the official said it was aimed at facilitating armed militants sitting on border to push into the state. “The vigil along the LoC and the hinterlands has been increased as a precautionary measure,” he said.

There have been four ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops last week in Poonch sector in which Pakistan used heavy volume of mortar fire along with Rocket Propelled Guns and machine guns,including nearly 80 mortar bombs and 40 rockets,besides over 3,000 rounds of weaponry on Indian forward posts.
