Jaipur: BJP councillor, independent file nominations for Mayor elections

The post of the Mayor got vacant on Tuesday after Nirmal Nahta resigned from the post stating personal reasons.

BJP councillor Ashok Lahoti and an independent member on Wednesday filed the nomination papers for the post of Mayor in Jaipur Municipal Corporation office in Jaipur. Lahoti was accompanied by the party’s state president Ashok Parnami.

The post of the Mayor got vacant on Tuesday after Nirmal Nahta resigned from the post stating personal reasons. “Two nominations have been filed for the post of Mayor. Last time for withdrawal of the nomination papers is 2 pm,” District Collector Siddharth Mahajan said. There are 91 councillors in the municipal corporation and the BJP has a majority with 64 councillors.
