Rahul Gandhi calls up family of Abohar victims

Rahul spoke to the family for over 7 minutes. Kaushalaya said the Congress MP assured to provide legal help to the family as well.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi Wednesday called up Kaushalya Devi, the mother of the murdered Dalit youth Bheem Taank, and assured the family of all support. Taank had been found with his limbs cut off, at the farmhouse of a SAD leader, in Abohar on December 11.

Rahul spoke to the family for over 7 minutes. Kaushalaya said the Congress MP assured to provide legal help to the family as well. Rahul reportedly blamed liquor baron Shiv Lal Doda for the murder and said the Akali government was harbouring criminals. “Rahul said the Congress will take this fight across the country if the Punjab government fails to provide justice,” she added.

SHO suspended

Station House Officer (SHO) Abhinav Chauhan posted in Abohar city-1 police station was Wednesday suspended for “mishandling” a rape complaint against Bheem Taank, the Dalit youth who was found murdered at SAD leader Shiv Lal Doda’s farmhouse. ENS
