After DMRC advisor and Metro man E Sreedharan said they were not keen to take up any more projects in Kerala, noted Malayalam actor Mohanlal said he was extending apology to the technocrat for bitter experiences he had in the state.

In an open letter published in his website, Mohanlal said Kerala needed Sreedharan’s leadership and he should continue to lead the projects.

Last week, while participating in a seminar on light metro project, Sreedharan had expressed his displeasure over the state government’s failure to clear the DPR of the light metro project, proposed in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.

Moreover, CPM legislator V Sivankutty criticised the government for depending upon DMRC alone for the mass rapid transit project. He also alleged that DMRC was pocketing huge sum as consultancy fee.

Refuting the charges, Sreedharan said DMRC was not keen to take up light metro project in Kerala.

He said he had strained a lot to convince the DMRC about taking up the project in Kerala. It was his commitment to the home state that forced him to take DMRC to Kerala, said Sreedharan.

Mohanlal, in his letter, said people of Kochi were silently suffering the hardships and inconveniences associated with the Metro work only because they believe that Sreedharan would deliver the project on time.

“You have come to lead a project in Kerala during your sunset years. Except a few cynical persons, everyone has wholeheartedly received you. Your utmost restraint towards provocative situations and dedication to implementing the project was awesome.”

The actor said he felt dejected when he heard that there were persons in Kerala who are insulting even Sreedharan.
