Lion Safari director booked for ‘thrashing’ guard in UP

The case has been filed on various charges, including attempt to murder, at the Civil Lines police station in Etawah.

An FIR was lodged against the director of the Lion Safari in Etawah and three others on Sunday for reportedly thrashing a security guard posted there.

The four are Director K K Singh, his driver Vipin Bhadoria and veterinary doctors Utkarsh Shukla and Vikas. The case has been filed on various charges, including attempt to murder, at the Civil Lines police station in Etawah.

Station House Officer Bharat Kumar Pandey said: “Security guard Rishi Yadav, who is also the complainant in the case, has alleged that he was attacked for leaking news about Lion Safari in the media.” Last week, four cubs had died at the Lion Safari.

Pandey added that Yadav has alleged that on Saturday evening, he was called to the Lion Safari office, where the two doctors and the driver thrashed him on the direction of K K Singh. He was released the next morning, he alleged.

“Rishi Yadav has been medically examined and it has been found that he was drunk last night. The medical report has revealed that the victim had sustained injuries,” said Pandey.

On Sunday, several security guards had staged a protest outside the Lion Safari gate, demanding that the accused be booked by the police. Following this, the four were booked.
