The CBI Friday approached a special court in Delhi seeking a non-bailable arrest warrant against a London-based accused in the VVIP helicopter ‘scam’ case.
The agency, which has been inquiring into the case, had named 13 individuals including former IAF chief Air Chief Marshal S P Tyagi and European nationals Carlo Gerosa, Christian Michel James and Guido Haschke in the FIR. On Friday, the agency moved an application before Special Judge Ajay Kumar Jain requesting an “open ended non-bailable arrest warrant against accused Christian Michel James”. It is alleged that Christian Michel James, a London-based consultant, is the key link who managed political parties and players in Italy as well as in India.
The CBI also moved another application in the court seeking to issue a Letter Rogatory/Letter of Request to competent authority in Mauritius for “assistance in investigation and collection of documents”.
The agency moved an application for the same under Section 166 A of CrPC — that deals with letter of request competent authority for investigation in a country or place outside India.
The court fixed September 23 for consideration of both the applications. The applications were filed by Investigation Officer DSP Surender Malik through special prosecutor J S Wadia.
