Summoned to depose before a Haryana government-constituted inquiry commission probing various land deals and colony licences allegedly issued illegally in various sectors and villages of Gurgaon during the tenure of the previous Congress government, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday said he will appear before the panel on March 25.

Among the contentious licences issued that are under the commission’s probe is one issued to a company promoted by Robert Vadra.

Saying that he had done no wrong, Hooda said, “I will go there (before the commission) and will reply to whatever questions are posed to me.” He also implied that the BJP government is playing politics of vendetta.

Among the land deals and licences issued in Gurgaon during Hooda’s tenure, the panel is looking into the colony licence in Shikohpur village issued to Vadra-promoted Skylight Hospitality and real estate giant DLF.

As per records, in 2008, Haryana’s Town and Country Planning Department had granted a commercial licence to Vadra’s company for 2.7 acres in Sector 83 (Shikohpur), Gurgaon. The commission is probing the transfer or disposal of licences, allegations of private enrichment, ineligibility of beneficiaries and other connected matters.

Although the commission was initially constituted to only look into the colony licences, the Haryana Cabinet widened its ambit in August last year. The commission was asked to also probe licences issued in four villages — Sihi, Shikohpur, Kherki Daula and Sikanderpur Bada.
