Sushma Swaraj speech at UNGA was disappointing: Congress

Congress’s Abhishek Singhvi said Swaraj’s speech would have resonated much more at the international arena if NDA government had displayed its intent and taken strong steps in the immediate aftermath of the Uri attack.

The Congress said External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s address at the UNGA was “deeply disappointing”, and slammed her for not using the opportunity to demand imposition of diplomatic and economic sanctions against Pakistan and label it a “terrorist state”.

“Why did the External Affairs Minister forget to place Pakistan-sponsored terrorist attacks in Gurdaspur, Udhampur and two attacks in Pampore in the UN?… If India won’t ask for diplomatic and economic sanctions (against Pakistan), who will?” said Congress communication department head Randeep Surjewala.

“The minister even steered away from calling Pakistan a terrorist state,” he added.
