The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has approached the Ministry of Home Affairs, seeking to launch its prosecution against Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist Mohammad Naveed of Pakistan and his local aides from the Kashmir Valley following the conclusion of its investigation into the terror attack on a BSF convoy in Udhampur in August last year.

Fayaz had travelled in the same truck as the two terrorists, while Khurshid and his wife had accompanied the terrorists from the Valley to Narsu Nullah in their car. They drove their car ahead of the truck carrying the terrorists to alert them in case of any police check-post along the highway.

Sources said the MHA sanction is awaited but once it comes, the NIA will file a challan against those apprehended in the case.

Meanwhile, Special Judge Kishore Kumar on Saturday extended the judicial remand of Naveed and his five local aides for another 14 days, observing that their further detention was necessary for launching prosecution against them.
