The Bengal wing of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has alleged that their official Twitter handle and those of at least three other VHP members were suspended “without explanation”. The VHP alleged that Twitter was singling them out because of their Hindutva agenda, while allowing “anti-national” individuals to “spread venom” on social media.

According to VHP, at least four party accounts — including the official @vhpkol, the official state spokesperson’s @me_sourish and two others — were suspended on September 28. Abishek Mishra, VHP’s national social media in-charge, said, “At the time, the VHP was campaigning the Twitter trend #RememberingAshokJi.”
Twitter was contacted by The Indian Express but no response was received at the time of going to press.
