A day after former union minister Manish Tewari said that The Indian Express report in 2012 about Army units moving towards Delhi without notifying the then UPA government was “true”, the BJP demanded a statement from the Congress, including from former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and then defence minister A K Antony.

“Congress should make it clear what is correct, what the then defence minister said in Parliament, or what Tewari claims now? If what Tewari said is true, (former) defence minister Antony has not spoken the truth in Parliament,” BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said.

The BJP, Singh said, “demands a statement from no one less than former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former defence minister A K Antony”.

Kohli also attacked Tewari for “ignoring norms and traditions that have been respected for long” in revealing what was discussed in a meeting of a Parliamentary Committee.
