

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has seized 28 semi-automatic pistols manufactured at Sendhwa in Madhya Pradesh and arrested a gun runner from Ring Road in New Delhi, police said on Monday. A team of Special Cell working on illegal arms being smuggled into Delhi NCR, received a specific input about supply of pistols and laid a trap near Ashram Chowk, Ring Road, and arrested Akram Khan, a Mewat resident around 11 pm last night, said DCP (Special Cell) P S Kushwah.

A total of 28 sophisticated semi-automatic improvised pistols were seized from the bags carried by Akram Khan. Some of the seized pistols are engraved with “Made in USA” mark, said the officer.
During interrogation, Khan revealed that he has been working for Mufeed of Chhata in Mathura, and Bharatpur resident Khursheed who are main receivers of the illegal arms from Sendhwa in Madhya Pradesh. The illegal weapons were sold to the gangsters and criminals of Delhi and NCR and other parts of country by Khursheed and Mufeed.

Khan told police that out of the 28 pistols, 20 pistols were to be given to Mufeed and the remaining 8 pistols were to be given to Khursheed. He got Rs 1000 per pistol from the receivers.
