IN THEIR chargesheet in the alleged Sandeep Gadoli fake encounter case, the Mumbai Police have claimed that the Gurgaon police chose not to kill the Haryana gangster en-route Mumbai in order to ensure the safety of co-accused Divya Pahuja.

The 20-year-old Divya, who was accompanying Gadoli from Haryana to Mumbai, was allegedly passing information to her mother Sonia who was communicating this to the chasing Gurgaon policemen.

This is revealed in the alleged transcript between Divya and Sonia, part of the over 2,000-page chargesheet filed in a Mumbai court this week.

“Sandeep se matlab hai, baaki aur kisi se matlab nahi hai. Raste mein kuch nahi karengey. Bandey toh tumhaare peechhe hi hain. Chinta mat karo. Woh police waala bhi yeh bol raha tha, ‘Main hai aap ki beti. Aap ki beti naa hoti toh kabhi ka game karte’. Manoj bhi yehi keh raha tha ‘main mar jaoon, mereko chinta nahi hai. Chinta tere beti ki hai’. (Sonia is heard informing her daughter Divya that the alleged plan to murder Gadoli will not take place en-route. Manoj is an absconding accused in the case).

Gadoli, who had over 25 cases against him, was shot dead by a team of Gurgaon policemen, four of whom have been chargesheeted along with Divya and Sonia. The team had barged into the Airport Metro hotel in Andheri on February 7 and claimed to have killed him in self-defence. The Mumbai Police, however, got their first breakthrough in the case after examining CCTV footage of the hotel, which allegedly showed them firing at an unarmed Gadoli.

The transcripts also showed that Sonia had decided on a set of code words that Divya would use to communicate with her. This was to ensure that Gadoli did not suspect her.

“Mummy meri tabiyat theek hai. Main doctor ke paas jaa rahi hoon. Toh main yeh samajh jaungi ki tu akeli hai.Theek hai, agar woh tumhare saath hai toh tumhe yeh kehna hai ki mummy, ‘davaai leke aayi hoon, main khaa loongi’. Theek hai? Yeh do code yaad rakh.”

Sonia also allegedly told Divya that the Gurgaon cops were on their way to Mumbai after being tipped off about Gadoli driving to Mumbai in his Scorpio along with five others. Divya also allegedly informed Sonia about Gadoli having left his weapon in Haryana and that he was unarmed in Mumbai. The two are also heard discussing about a flat that they will be given by rival gangster Binder Gujjar for their information on Gadoli. Divya allegedly informed her mother about a premonition that Gadoli had about death while they were on their way to Mumbai.

“Hint usse subah mil chuki hai. Jab last time hua kya, uski revolver se usko lag gayi thi. Aaj Deepu (Gadoli’s friend) ko lag gayi. Toh woh wahi keh raha hai ki yeh (revolver) khoon maang rahi hai kisi ka. Aur koi na koi marega bohot jald. Usko bhanak toh lag chuki hai.”
