Rebel JD(U) MLC loses membership, to move HC

JD(U) MLC Sanjay Kumar Singh said the party had requested the chairman of the Council to cancel Mahachandra Prasad Singh’s membership because he turned a rebel and contested from another party.

Rebel JD(U) Member of Legislative Council in Bihar Mahachandra Prasad Singh lost his membership to the Upper House on Wednesday after JD(U) initiated the move. Former minister Singh had crossed over to the Jitan Ram Manjhi camp and unsuccessfully contested the Assembly elections as HAM (S) candidate.

JD(U) MLC Sanjay Kumar Singh said the party had requested the chairman of the Council to cancel Mahachandra Prasad Singh’s membership because he turned a rebel and contested from another party. “The party is well within its rights to request termination of Singh’s membership because of anti-party activities,” said Singh.

The rebel MLC, however, said he would move Patna High Court to challenge termination of his membership.
