The remarks came on a day when Rahul told the Supreme Court that he stood by every word he had said about RSS being behind the killing of Mahatma Gandhi.

Speaking at the inauguration of a private intermediate college at Jamo in Amethi, Rahul said: “Whatever the country achieved and won in the freedom struggle, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs all participated in it. But RSS men did not participate in the freedom struggle…The people who divide the nation, who did not even hoist the Tricolour and saluted their own flag instead, speak about nationalism today.”

Addressing students, he said the weaker sections, minorities and Dalits were being suppressed. He told them not to be afraid and said he would stand with them. “These people are cowards. If you stand up to them, they will turn and run away,” said Rahul.

“The Prime Minister had come here and said he would not do politics of vengeance… but he indulged in badle ki rajniti… The about Rs 3500-crore (Hindustan) paper mill project, which would have brought employment to 10,000 people, was cancelled, the mega food park was cancelled, IIIT was shifted (to Allahabad) and the central school project has been put on hold,” he said.

He said that while the Prime Minister speaks about development of the entire country, “he stops development projects for the people of Amethi”.

Taking a dig at the ‘Make in India’ campaign, he said: “The Babbar Sher (mascot of Make in India campaign) does not even squeak like a mouse.”
