AAM AADMI Party (AAP) MP Bhagwant Mann lashed out at the media after he was questioned about his late arrival at the venue of a rally in Bassi Pathana of Fatehgarh Sahib Thursday.

Mann, who arrived at the venue three hours late, accused the media of acting like “Badals’ sycophants” and asked the journalists to leave the rally venue immediately. He said, “AAP is good without paid media and needs no coverage from it.”

Claiming that he knew “the rates of every journalist”, Mann said: “Journalists take money for writing and ignoring several news stories.”
He said this on the microphone from the stage when the reporters at the venue questioned him about why he arrived late and about the alleged sex scandal involving Delhi former minister Sandeep Kumar.

“Media is acting like Badals’ sycophants. It seems that the Badals have brainwashed you all and sent you here with irrelevant questions.

Do you question the Badals too when their choppers get late? Go and publish headlines that Mann misbehaved with media. You are also most welcome to leave the venue as we are good without paid media. Boycott me because Bhagwant Mann has the support of 70,000 people here. He does not need any media to publicise himself,” said Mann.

“I know everything. I know how much money you take to write some stories or ignore some. It all depends on how much you are paid,” said Mann as mediapersons left the venue.

Mann arrived around 2.30 pm at the Bassi Pathana rally to support local candidate Santokh Singh Salana. When reporters requested him to spare a few minutes for an interaction ahead of the rally, he refused. As a reporter started questioning him, he lashed out at the media.

“All are asking me why I am late… It is not my job to answer you. I have 70,000 people here who support me. Go and make headlines you want, I simply don’t care,” he shouted. “It is all a media creation that I want to be Punjab CM. I want to be dukh mantri, not mukh mantri. I am with the people of Punjab in their grief.”

The media fraternity of Fatehgarh Sahib later announced they would boycott Mann rallies. A video of Mann lashing out at media went viral on WhatsApp and he himself uploaded it on his Facebook account as well.
