‘Mukherjee sir’, none other than the country’s first citizen, will yet again chart the evolution of Indian politics this Teachers’ Day at a school in the President’s Estate. For the second year in a row, President Pranab Mukherjee will don the hat of a teacher on this occasion as requested by the Delhi government, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Saturday.
“President will take a class this year as well. He will take class on the ‘Evolution of Indian Politics’ for an hour,” Sisodia said. A senior government official said the school that has been selected for this purpose is Rajendra Prasad Sarvodaya Vidyalaya like last year.
Mukherjee’s special class was held on September 4 last year as Janmashtami fell on Teachers’ Day. The event had generated enthusiasm among students who were eager to heard the words of Mukherjee who became President in 2012 capping an illustrious political career of over five decades. Sisodia said the government will also organise a ‘grand ceremony’ where teachers will be awarded.
