BSP chief Mayawati Monday said that by re-inducting Gayatri Prasad Prajapati who was removed from the post of mines minister a few days ago “over the allegations of his involvement in corruption”, Akhilesh Yadav has proved himself to be “extremely weak chief minister who is prone to taking U-turns”.

“By reinducting Prajapati, who was expelled recently on corruption charges, the head of the SP government has not only proved himself a weak CM, who makes U-turns, but has also shown that, besides dismal law and order, corruption is the order of the day in Uttar Pradesh,” Mayawati said in a statement.

“People are unable to comprehend why someone, who was sacked over the allegations of rampant corruption in mines department in which (even) the High Court has ordered a CBI inquiry, has again been made a minister. Even if his department is changed, it is impossible that his character and behaviour will change,” she said.

Terming it “a weak and U-turn-taking government”, Mayawati said the Akhilesh Yadav dispensation, which has “made the people suffer bad law and order over last four-and-a-half years”. Mayawati claimed the works that are being highlighted by the state government through advertisements were started during her tenure as chief minister.

Atrocities on Dalits up in BJP states: Maya

BSP chief Mayawati Monday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah over the alleged assault on a Dalit family for refusing to dispose the carcass of a cow in Banaskantha district of Gujarat. She said Modi and Shah keep harping about “welfare of Dalits” and “claim to be the followers of Ambedkar”, but they “hesitate in accepting the fact” that the incidents of atrocities against Dalits have increased in BJP-ruled states after the formation of BJP government at Centre. She said the Gujarat government should respect the “struggle of Dalits” who decided not to remove the carcasses of dead cows “to live with self-respect” after attacks on them by people in the name of cow protection.
